Item Description
Hashimoto Naoyoshi, also known as "Chikanobu Yoshu" had a storied military life, taking part in The Battle of Ueno and The Battle of Hakodate. In 1875, he took up Ukiyo-e style woodblock printing. Shown here is one such example from the 1890's entitled, "Shishi-no Asobi" which displays a traditional lion dance complet with all three panels. The print is showcased in an ornate gold-tone frame with carved foliates, khaki mat border, and protected via a glass facing.
