Item Description
A large seated figure of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, presented seated in lotus position with hands folded. Wearing a wonderfully draped robe with beaded pendant and a gilt crown. Guanyin is presented on a carved and tiered plinth, with remaining pigment to the reverse.
There is a cavity on the back that once held prayers, now missing.
Probably Ming Dynasty or slightly later.
Provenance: Three old labels are on the back, one inscribed in black characters.

16 1/2" H x 7 1/4" W x 5 1/2" D
Condition: losses to the crown, the front drapery, the base corners, Vertical cracks and many losses and chips to the paint. Please review the photos as they are part of the condition report,
Condition
A section of the crown has broken off and lost, additionally there are other chips and heavy losses with light traces of the original gilt and other pigments are barely preserved. Wear is commensurate with age and handling. Despite wear the figure of Guanyin presents very well. Please review the photos as they are part of the condition report.
