Item Description
A 19th century HB Quimper polychrome finished ceramic serving platter. Oval form, with raised, everted rim.
The serving platter is decorated with a wonderful band of foliate decoration to the rim with a central scene depicting a Breton man and woman in traditional attire, facing one and another, in a landscape with flowers in bloom to either side and grass below.
Marked HB on verso.
With gallery label on verso denoting the dish was purchased from Solomon Suchard Antiques for $1,575.

Condition: There are losses and chipping to the glazed finish, some of which appears to be original firing flaws but some is wear commensurate with age and handling. Wear to the glaze around the trim edge and throughout.
There is white spotting and wear to the painted central scene with a firing flaw to the center below the grass.
Despite wear the platter presents well overall.
