Item Description
Jean-Pierre Clement (French, B. 1943) Surrealist style oil on canvas painting titled "L' Amore." and dated 1965.
The Surrealist style painting depicts a woman in a desert like landscape with only vividly hued polychrome wild flowers able to grow in the arid landscape. The woman is seen standing on a metallic wheel that seems to come up from the ground from no where. The female wearing tight pants and a loose top, is depicted holding a green birdcage with the door open and the bird perched on her hand. A blue vail can be seen blowing in the wind issuing from the back of her head. Wonderfully lit sky with clouds above.
Signed, dated and titled in the lower right.
Also signed and dated on verso "Juin. 65 / Clement"
Presented in a nicely carved and gilt finished frame.
Condition: There is a tear to the canvas in the lower right quadrant which is small but should be noted. Otherwise some creases / craquelure to the upper right in the sky.
