Item Description
Likely English, comparable to antique English carved architectural foliate elements. All carved faux bois chairs with branch form frames and carved high relief backs with foliage and birds. In the manner of William Morris Arts & Crafts floral designs.
One chair with intertwined branches with pendant flowers and buds. A bird is perched eating a flower.
A second chair with similar branches but different flowers and this time with a bird eating a bud.
The third chair is different with grape vines decorating the back and a bird eating at the grape cluster.
All chair seats with carved bosses in imitation of nail head trim for upholstery. The grape cluster chair with a patterned seat in imitation of fabric.
All chairs raised on heavy intertwined branch bases.
Dimensions: 33-34" H x 11- 12 1/4" W x 15, 18, or 19" D x 18 1/2-19" H seat
Condition: Please see detail photos. There are various expected signs of age including the seats with stable age cracks and old staining, The chair with the grape vines is darkened with rust tone stains on the base branches and a chip on the base edge at the back. The set exhibits expected wear from age and the elements but retain an extraordinary presentation.
