A beautiful, antique Steinway Concert grand piano in classic form. Built in 1889 and refurbished by Steinway in 1996. The piano has been altered from its original appearance to now have a modern spade leg. The soundboard was replaced by Steinway during the restoration and appears to be in very good condition (see photos). These 19th century pianos are short a few keys compared to modern ones.
The piano comes with a heavy, professionally fitted quilted cover. Raised on multi-caster feet for ease of mobility.
The dust board under the keys is currently held in place with gaffers tape. The veneer on the right side is lifting, and is also reinforced with tape; could benefit from being properly glued. (This should be an affordable and inexpensive fix). One foot pedal is broken off and is missing.
For someone looking for a historied and stately piano to play and display, this is a great piece to consider. Many vintage pianos that come through our gallery have soundboard damage or need to be completely refinished. This piano has a very good soundboard and decent paint finish that will require very little additional investment.
If you live in Westchester or Fairfield County, Black Rock Galleries will be available for first floor delivery of the piano for approximately $900-1,000 on the day of auction pick up. Please contact the gallery for more information, or for a list of other potential movers from the local area.
